The just-launched Flat Monthly (www.flatmonthly.com) marketplace for month-or-more property rental, has zoomed beyond expectations in its initial target markets of Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, the company reported.
The new web platform aims to transform the pain of renting apartments, condos and co-living arrangements in Southeast Asia into a pleasant and cost-saving experience for property owners, real estate agents, and renters.
In less than one month since the site launched, executive Anthony McDonald said, listings are already approaching the 2000 mark, well ahead of schedule.
Flat Monthly aims to take the best practices of Booking.com, AirBnB and others in short-term room-booking and apply them to the special conditions that prevail for medium-to-long term flat rentals in Asian capitals, adding special features like virtual tours and a virtual concierge for “living services” for tenants.
The goal is to address the persist problem that many high-end units stay vacant for months or even years due to inefficiencies in the rental marketplace.
We’ve received an overwhelming response to our innovation from landlords, property investors, developers, agents, and renters as well. We are responding to the demand by developing APIs which will allow other property sites and online services to connect with our service automatically and seamlessly.
The company has leveraged partnerships with premium property brands like Coldwell Banker and Sansiri to attract developers, owners, as well as top real estate agencies.
“What we keep hearing,” said Mr. McDonald, is that our solution is to real estate rental what Uber was to transportation.
